This theoretical essay focuses on the relationship between the impact of the pandemic on the lives of people with disabilities, especially on how attendants of Francisco Morato's Parents and Friends of People with Special Needs Association - APAE are dealing with this atypical reality. The reflections will permeate the historical context of public policies aimed at people with disabilities that contributed to a legacy of dependencies to a single social space, an issue that in the current pandemic context is highlighted once again. The report will also discuss the generational differences in APAE attendants and what differences in access rights and opportunities outside of APAE contribute to a specific group responding differently when taking part in activities and the social isolation practices determined for coping with COVID-19.
