The study of the relationship between parents and children with disabilities, through psychoanalytic theory, highlights two fundamental concepts, narcissism and mourning, which can be used as tools to understand the upbringing and development of children. This article aims to understand the importance of the feelings and fantasies of parents of visually impaired children. Descriptive and exploratory research was carried out using semi-structured interviews with four families, selected using the Snowball technique. The data was analyzed using Bardin's contribution. Partial results were discussed, based on the categories of grief and narcissistic reinvention. The partial results show the coexistence of grief with the struggle to integrate the child into the social environment, enabled by the parents' narcissistic reinvention with the help of technologies that provide accessibility resources, as well as the establishment of a social support group.
