Abstract

The aim of this article is to explore body practice, from the Cultural Curriculum perspective, in Physical Education classes at an Elementary School, in the Special Education – Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais – APAE) in the city of Prudentópolis, in the State of Paraná, in Brazil. Body culture refers to the relationship between the body and the sociocultural context in which it is inserted (Neira, 2018). Through Content Analysis (Bardin, 2016), it was possible to observe the proposals made from this perspective at the school, the specificities of each student there and how it benefited them. The research concluded that enabling students with adaptive support needs to get to know their bodies and relate to their sociocultural repertoire helps them to acquire autonomy and protagonism in body movement practices.
