Keywords:
Aging, Person with Disabilities, Family, Public PolicyAbstract
The present essay aims to demonstrate the impact of the aging process of people with disabilities and their families—especially women responsible for the daily care of disabled people served by APAEs of the State of São Paulo—on the social assistance services. To construct, analyze, and reflect on the theme presented, a bibliographic study was conducted, following a theoretical-methodological approach to aging in Brazil and its effects on the services provided by APAEs in São Paulo. After obtaining authorization from the Federation of APAEs of the State of São Paulo (FEAPAES/SP), the authors analyzed research on the aging process carried out in institutions affiliated with FEAPAES/SP. Therefore, the study aims to strengthen the debate on the topic presented and contribute to future research and public policies aimed at this specific community.
