This article aims to share the challenges faced and the possibilities that arise from the need to adapt face-to-face care to the remote model due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which occurred both at the Specialized Care Center "Mateus Henrique Furtado", and in the Multidisciplinary Health Care Center - CAMS “Wolnia Dowich and in the Social Service Sector, considering that the three sectors make up the Parents and Friends of People with Special Needs Association – APAE Ananindeua. The urgent need to change the service model demanded a change in planning, leading the teams to look for ways that could support the continuity of the service offered without the physical contact that was so common before. Several factors compromised remote care, leading the teams to be in a constant process of evaluating and re-evaluating strategies that would solve the difficulties encountered by the families, the teams, and the assisted people. Each sector developed internal strategies, in addition to collective articulations as a multidisciplinary team, so that they could fulfill the needs of those assisted and so that they could remain active throughout the school year. Despite the great challenges, the reformulation of “serving” the target audience presents significant results that instigate new reflections on the offer of services provided by the institution in this new context.
