The environment has become a relevant theme in educational settings, going beyond the concept and finding new spaces in our reality. Special Education, recognizing the importance of this issue, incorporates it into its practices. Waste is a worldwide issue affecting every creature on this planet. It is important to present a sample of the Recycling project developed at the Association of Parents and Friends of Exceptional Children (APAE) in Turvo - SC. The project’s objective is to create environmental preservation awareness in students and to form capable, autonomous, and collaborative humans. The Recycling project started in 2017, contributing to developing autonomy and self-management in our students over the years. Its impact has extended beyond the school walls, reaching the students' homes and the community. The project aims to continue for several more years, and it is crucial to strengthen the support from the school management team to other members of society to ensure its consolidation.
