Abstract

This text aims to present some issues that have shaped the agenda of Disability Studies, especially in recent decades. It examines both Global North and Brazilian productions, thus composing some bibliographic syntheses that help map a field of growing interest in our country. The text is organized into three sections addressing the bibliography of disability studies: “Canonical Narratives”, “Sexuality, Crip Theory, and Desire”, and “Culture, Inequality, and Suffering”. We therefore start from the foundational context of this field of study, situated between the United States and England, moving toward two more recent lines of dialogue based on the understanding of disability as a difference.
