This article presents a review of the literature of a research developed at the Professional and Technological Education Master's Program - ProfEPT from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Goiás. The theoretical study starts with the promulgation of Law 12,764/12, Berenice Piana Law, endorsed on December 27th, 2012 and it aims to produce the bibliographic research about what has been investigated about autism and education over the last five years of scientific publication. The data collection was carried out in three scientific bases: Virtual Health Library, Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and National Association of Post-Graduation and Research in Education. The descriptors used were autism and education; autism and teaching; autism and inclusion; autism and emancipation; autism and omni laterality; autism and integrated education; and autism and integrated teaching. From the 150 publications found, there were 64 articles which met the inclusion criteria and were selected. The study reveals the need for the training of teachers and educators for teaching autistic children and that the person with autism education is based on teaching and pedagogical methodologies that enable contributions from multiple areas of knowledge.
