Abstract

This article is characterized as a bibliographic review of the main concepts that involve Fluid and Crystallized Intelligence, interconnected with the cognitive abilities of the Person with Intellectual Disabilities. Based on concepts that seek to deepen neuro psycho pedagogical knowledge, and when studying authors who approach the subject of intelligence, it is noticeable that it has a broad approach. Such approach includes definitions of an academic nature and also related to common sense, once the term is habitually used without a concrete conceptual relationship. Based on the above, the concept of intelligence that will be addressed in this article is theoretically based on the work Cognitive Psychology (STERNBERG, 2008). Through studies by other authors, this research prioritizes the intertwining of preserved or delayed cognitive abilities in the Person with Intellectual Disabilities. In addition, the consolidation and better knowledge of the link that involves the theme addressed, theoretical support in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - 5th Edition - (DSM-5, 2014) and in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (CIF, 2004).
