EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS IN THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT

This article analyzed the perception of visually impaired women regarding school inclusion, focusing on institutional support and their relationships with teachers and classmates. This exploratory study carried out individual interviews with five women, whose sample was obtained through the dissemination of the research at a private university through its Inclusion Support Center. The results showed that, considering the necessary institutional support that often exists and which is fundamental to remaining in educational institutions, the factors most relevant to the inclusion of visually impaired women throughout their personal trajectory, and specifically in higher education, are largely the result of personal effort and resilience.
